United States Geological Survey has signed on
Etisbew Technology Group to develop Wireless
Applications.
During financial year 2003,
we have set out to acquire expertise in emerging
technologies and as part of the strategy we
have ventured into wireless technologies.
At the begining of the year, we have started
with a small team size of 3 members with a
couple of team members joined us from bigger
comapnies like Siemens, Vodafone bringing
in with them vast and rich expertise which
is key for this emerging technology.
We have started with developing
small products on Windows CE OS and Palm OS.
We have meanwhile bagged a contract for developing
of a Video Surveillance System for one of
our US based clients including a wireless
device monitoring versions. Around THIRD quarter
of the year, we could get a bigger project
directly from United States Geological Survey
Department and are working it out through
Jognson Controls of USA.
USGS contacted Etisbew to build
the SF extensions using Code Warrior tool,
for the front-end developed by USGS. The front
end was developed using the Satellite Forms
from PUMA technologies. As per PUMA technologies
specifications, SF Extensions are to be written
in 'C' language only. As part of the first
phase of the project. basic requirement is
to develop backend database functionality
to the existing "Satellite Forms App"
application. The backend database is Oracle
Lite (Olite) on Palm device, which gets its
data from the remote mobile Server (Oracle
Server) by means of sync procedure.
As part of Phase TWO of the
project, we are currently working on “Surface
Water Inspection & Measurement”
tool - Basically it is an Palm application
using C++ (Palm OS SDK) with Oracle Lite 5.0.2
backend.
The information collected from
field personnel of USGS is stored into palm
Olite DB using oracle's OKAPI/ODBC API and
periodically is synchronized with the remote
mobile server. We are also currently working
on applications related to Palm device programming
using the latest technologies like Oracle9iLite,
Mobile Server, OKAPI. We have developed a
synchronizing tool to synch the remote data
from the Oracle Mobile Server located at a
different place. We have also developed MSQL
query analyser to execute the SQL queries
from the mobile device. We have also developed
WebService clients using pocket SOAP API.
Developed Video Streaming Applications for
Pocket PCs and much more. We have an R&D
team working exclusively on the latest technologies
like i-mode, bluetooth, etc.
We have also done projects
for Pocket PCs using C, C++, Java, eVB and
eVC++ on win CE and other environments. We
use development tools like Satellite Forms
5.1.3, CodeWarrior 9.0, AppForge.
